The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved a tariff of ₹3.97 per kWh for Torrent Green Energy’s 300 MW wind project. Torrent won the project through a tender process by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
Torrent intends to implement the project in Gujarat. SECI will buy power from Torrent and sell it to two power distribution companies in Bihar through a back-to-back power sales agreement (PSA) at a markup of 7 paise. Bihar will therefore buy the electricity at ₹4.04 per kWh.
Torrent emerged as a successful bidder in SECI’s ISTS tender Tranche XVIII released in March 2025. The tender was for 600 MW, but only three bidders submitted bids for 580 MW. The technically qualified bids were for only 400 MW, and in the subsequent reverse auction only Torrent Green was able to win the 300 MW for which it had bid.
The winning tariff of ₹3.97 shows a hardening of wind power prices.
