According to a notice posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, more than 26,400 vehicles have been recalled. The problem is related to a poorly welded door strike plate.
“As a result, the door lock plate wire may not have sufficient strength and, in certain cases, may break and separate from the plate,” the recall notice states.
“In this case, the door latch may not hold the door properly while driving or in the event of an accident, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants.”
The company said customers whose vehicles have the defective weld may notice a rattling noise. The company has no reports of accidents or injuries.
We know that.
Full list of recalled vehicles:
Nissan Frontier 2025 to 2026: 8,383 vehicles
2025 Nissan Altima: 7,627 vehicles
Nissan Sentra 2025: 6,988 vehicles
Nissan Kicks 2026: 3,434 vehicles
Nissan said the vehicles were manufactured between August and September 2025 at its plants in Canton, Michigan, and Aguascalientes, Mexico. The company received the part that led to the withdrawal of MAGNA Winmex in Mexico.
Were there many Nissan recalls in 2025?
Yes – in 2025, Nissan conducted several major recalls for both safety and manufacturing defects.
These recalls affected hundreds of thousands of vehicles in several countries (particularly the United States and Canada) and made headlines for much of the year.
Major Nissan recalls in 2025
1) Engine failure – More than 480,000 vehicles affected
Nissan has recalled hundreds of thousands of cars due to defects in the VC-Turbo engines that could lead to total engine failure or loss of performance. In several years of production, models such as the Nissan Rogue, the Nissan Altima and the Infiniti QX50 and QX55 were affected.
2) Nissan LEAF fast charging issue – ~19,000 units
A less extensive recall was issued due to a possible fire hazard in the batteries of some 2021-2022 Nissan LEAFs during high-level fast charging due to elevated temperatures in certain cells.
3) Rear View – Screen on Frontier and Kicks
Approximately 79,000 Nissan Frontiers and Nissan Kicks (2025 model year) have been recalled because the multimedia system screen turns off when reverse gear is engaged, impairing visibility when reversing.
4) Windshield defect – ~42,000 2025 Sentra
Several 2025 Nissan Sentras have been recalled due to a windshield manufacturing issue (bubbles in the laminate) that could reduce visibility and not meet safety standards.
5) Electrical problems/engine failure on older models – ~173,000 vehicles
There was also a recall for certain NV200 and Chevrolet City Express from previous years (through 2021) due to a fault in the temperature sensor wiring harness that could cause the engine to stop unexpectedly.
6) (Advertised) Possible retreat through door that can be opened
A recall was recently reported for models such as Altima, Sentra, Frontier and Kicks (still in the notification phase) due to door locking components that could fail, causing a door to open while driving, posing a safety hazard (NHTSA ID 26V023000).
Diploma
Yes, there were several notable Nissan recalls in 2025, some of them very large (e.g. the engines), others more specific due to defects in components such as batteries, screens or windshields. Many of these recalls involved free inspections or repairs at dealers after owners were notified.
If you want to know whether a specific vehicle is affected by one of these recalls, you can search for it by VIN on your country’s auto safety agency website (e.g. NHTSA in the US).
