The Mirai 2026 continues to set the standard, combining advanced hydrogen fuel cell technology, elegant design and exceptional performance. It sets a high standard for environmentally friendly vehicles that offer style and driving pleasure. As a pioneer of hydrogen mobility, the Mirai puts electric drive at the forefront and offers drivers an attractive and responsible option for the future.
Powered by Toyota’s fuel cell electric drivetrain, the 2026 Mirai produces a whopping 182 horsepower. The Mirai’s electric motor ensures quiet operation, while its high-capacity hydrogen tanks provide greater range, making it a practical and innovative option with an EPA-estimated range of 400 miles.
New for 2026, the Mirai comes standard with 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels with a black machined finish, enhancing its sporty and modern image. It is expected to arrive at Toyota dealers this winter with an MSRP of $51,795*.
Electric with hydrogen.
The Mirai is an electric vehicle without a plug. As a fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), it generates its own on-board electricity from hydrogen, with water as the only exhaust emission. The fuel cell system combines stored hydrogen with atmospheric oxygen to produce electric power and water, which exits through a vent under the vehicle.
Unlike battery-electric vehicles, which can take hours to recharge, Mirai drivers fill the vehicle’s tanks with compressed hydrogen gas, a non-toxic fuel. The electricity generated by the fuel cell and regenerative braking is stored in a lithium-ion battery. When you step on the accelerator pedal, the fuel cell immediately delivers electrical energy to the rear AC synchronous motor, which drives the rear wheels.
The intake system is designed to help minimize noise and purify incoming air using an electrostatic air filter and a carbon filter to ensure a quieter and cleaner driving experience.
Sophisticated chassis.
Based on Toyota’s premium rear-wheel-drive GA-L platform, the Mirai is a midsize luxury sports sedan designed for responsive driving dynamics. In the rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration, the two hydrogen tanks are located under the rear seats.
The high-strength GA-L platform combined with a sophisticated multi-link suspension lays the foundation for exceptional agility and an exceptionally smooth, quiet ride. Laser stud welding and frame bonding, proven on many other Toyota and Lexus models, are some of the construction techniques that give the Mirai a high-end feel on the road.
Elevated design.
The Toyota Mirai 2026 impresses with its low, wide and elongated presence, which perfectly combines avant-garde and sophisticated style. Its dynamic silhouette with a long hood, curved roofline and short rear deck conveys a feeling of movement and purpose even when standing still. Eye-catching 19-inch aluminum wheels in black complete the modern and sporty look.
The Mirai is equipped with dual-beam LED headlights with auto-leveling, multi-LED front and rear indicators, daytime running lights and clearance lights. The LED side marker lights with engraved Mirai logo add a special touch. At the rear, a slim LED taillight panel extends the width of the vehicle and tapers in the middle to create a captivating nighttime signature with three distinctive gradation lines.
Other impressive features include the exterior mirrors, which are dual-tone, heated, power folding and equipped with integrated turn signals, defrosters, blind spot warning and puddle lights, seamlessly combining comfort and style.
Inside, the Mirai offers a refined cabin experience with SofTex® padded, heated front seats with 8-way power adjustment for the driver and 4-way power adjustment for the front passenger. The front seat footwell lighting is also included and provides a subtle and inviting light in the interior. The dual-zone automatic climate control guarantees individual comfort for both front occupants, helping to improve every journey.
Smart technology
The Mirai features a 12.3-inch multimedia touchscreen that puts technology at the forefront for both driver and passengers.
The 12.3-inch screen gives the driver and front passenger easy access to multimedia controls, climate control and navigation. This screen also transmits images from the panoramic monitor, which provides a 360-degree aerial view both forward and backward.
Behind the steering wheel is a 12.3-inch instrument panel with an ECO driving display that helps the driver optimize fuel consumption, guides them when accelerating and provides an economical driving rating. The hydrogen level and estimated remaining range are always displayed.
