With striking aesthetics and spectacular performance, this new Volkswagen is a special edition and one-of-a-kind Golf GTI. Production is scheduled for 2026, coinciding with the GTI’s 50th anniversary.
Designed for performance… and to turn heads.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI EDITION 50 is the fastest and most powerful production Golf GTI produced to date. Its 2.0 TSI engine, combined with a seven-speed automatic transmission (DSG), is optimized to produce 325 hp and 420 Nm of torque, enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds and, where permitted, reach a top speed of 270 km/h.
Improved suspension and chassis components ensure that the additional power and speed translate into confident, dynamic handling, while Volkswagen’s adaptive chassis control system, standard on the GTI EDITION 50, maintains comfort in everyday life. The car sits 15mm lower than the standard Golf GTI and its overall weight of 1930kg is comparable to that of the current Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport.
An optional performance package reduces weight and further improves driving dynamics, with semi-slick tires, black 19-inch Warmenau forged alloy wheels, Akrapovič dual exhaust system and lowered suspension.
In addition to the Eco, Comfort, Sport and Individual profiles already familiar to many Volkswagen drivers, driving modes and special settings are also offered.
The GTI EDITION 50 features a Nürburgring mode designed for track driving, particularly the famous Nordschleife. There is also an S+ mode for the transmission, which optimizes downshifts when entering corners, and an M+ manual mode, which limits automatic shifting to higher gears even at high speeds.
But the GTI EDITION 50 is not only characterized by its high performance; It’s also a car that demands attention and admiration. Other features include:
- Pure white paint with black roof and mirror housings.
- New optional metallic paint in dark moss green: exclusive to GTI EDITION 50
- Other optional colors include the classic tornado red.
- 19-inch “Queenstown” alloy wheels painted in red
- GTI 50 emblems on the roof spoiler, exterior mirrors, steering wheel and door sills
- Exclusive seat upholstery with decorative inserts
- Red pedals and seat belts
Created to break records,
The Golf GTI EDITION 50 has already gone down in the history of the Nürburgring and the Volkswagen brand. In June 2025, racing driver Benny Leuchter completed a lap of the Nordschleife in a near-production version in just seven minutes and 46.13 seconds – the fastest time to date on the “Green Hell” track for a road-legal Volkswagen.
“The Golf GTI EDITION 50 is a declaration of intent with which Volkswagen expresses the pure GTI idea: the combination of superior performance and a high-precision chassis with front-wheel drive, more effective than ever,” said Benny Leuchter after his record test.
The car was equipped with the optional Performance package, which Benny Leuchter described as a “decisive factor” in his record attempt, which was all the more remarkable given the wet track conditions and poor weather that limited him to a single lap of the Nordschleife.
