According to its founder and CEO Jitendra Chouksey, fitness company Fittr aims to provide a holistic preventive healthcare service that combines diagnostics with doctor consultations to combat non-communicable diseases.
The company has earmarked an investment of up to ₹15 crore to set up captive diagnostic labs in five metro cities while working with partners to expand its lab network to 5,000 PIN codes across India, Chouksey told PTI.
“We are moving towards a preventative healthcare ecosystem where we combine diagnostics with doctor consultations as well as coaching and wearable monitoring to address one of the biggest pain points in the country today, which is the growing number of non-communicable diseases (NCD) deaths happening in the country,” he said.
Previously, Fittr operated primarily as a fitness company, providing nutrition and training services with the help of its trainers, he noted.
Chouksey responded to a question about how the company looks to the future after 10 years in business.
Pointing out that 63 per cent of deaths in India are due to lifestyle-related non-communicable diseases, he said: “For 2026, we want to focus first on tackling diabetes as it is currently the number one cause of death. Diabetes leads to cardiovascular attacks, which result in more than 30,000 deaths.”
As part of the plan, the company has announced a campaign titled ‘Diabetes testing at Re 1 for all Indians’, coinciding with the completion of its 10-year operations, he said, adding that in the future, Fittr will “try to offer other important tests as well for free”.
Fittr plans to expand its diagnostic labs in five metros and partner with existing players in second and third tier cities to cover 5,000 PIN codes.
The company is currently represented in 2,500 PIN codes through a network of over 200 laboratories.
For Tier II and III cities, the company has partnered with Healthians, he said, adding that Fittr is in discussions with other diagnostic service providers to partner to expand its reach.
“We have allocated around ₹10-15 crore for expanding labs in five cities,” Chouksey said, adding that while the Pune project is ready, Fittr will set up captive labs in Bengaluru, Gurugram, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai in a phased manner.
“We plan to increase coverage to at least 5,000 PIN codes across the country.” When asked about financing the expansion, he said: “We have positive liquidity and would therefore like to finance this expansion from our own resources.”
For any future expansion, the CEO said: “We will try to raise some funds, but the idea is to get these labs into profitability first and then see if we can continue to fund on our own, and if a partner wants to come along and share our journey and join us, help us, that’s fine.”
Currently, the company is not in active fundraising discussions, he said, adding that it has raised nearly $20 million over the past decade.
