The international expansion plan of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar is about to reach Brazil with a new facility, the first Rafa Nadal Tennis Center in South America, in addition to those in Kuwait, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Greece, Marbella, Hong Kong and Egypt.
The new Rafa Nadal Tennis Center will be located in Porto Belo, in the state of Santa Catarina, and will offer world-class sports facilities with 17 tennis courts (9 outdoor, 7 indoor and one center court) with clay (6) and fast court (11) surfaces. In addition, there will be 8 padel courts, a café, a sporting goods store and an exclusive gym for players and visitors.
The new center, scheduled to open in late 2028, will offer tennis programs for players of all ages and skill levels, based on the methodology developed by Rafa Nadal and his coaching team during his more than two decade professional tour.
The new complex will be part of the ambitious All Resort Resort Club Residence project developed by All Wert Group. The newly built residential and hotel resort will become one of the most innovative leisure and sports destinations in the country. In addition to the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center, it will have a floodlit golf course, an artificial beach with a wave pool, soccer fields, three hotels and over 12,000 residents.
Rafa Nadal expressed his enthusiasm about the new project: “We are very pleased that the international expansion of the academy is also reaching South America. Brazil has a great passion for sport and I am sure that the project will be a success.”
For Richard Schwambach, CEO of the All Wert Group, the opening of the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center in Brazil marks a new chapter for the development of tennis in the country. “At All Resort, sport is an essential part of our identity because it represents movement, discipline and endurance – and it is a cultural practice that reflects values, identity and energy.”
The Rafa Nadal Tennis Center in Porto Belo is in the midst of continued growth in tennis in Brazil in recent years, with an estimated annual growth in attendance of 6%. This growth is supported by the Brazilian Tennis Development Program, an initiative of the Brazilian Tennis Federation, and by the fact that Santa Catarina has established itself, second only to Sao Paulo, as one of the areas in the country with the most tennis players.
The Rafa Nadal Tennis Centers were designed to complement Movistar’s Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca. These are tennis facilities in first-class holiday and residential resorts that combine leisure, tourism and first-class sports training.
The Porto Belo complex will be part of the network of international RNA centers, which now includes two academies (Manacor and Kuwait), five Rafa Nadal tennis centers in Costa Mujeres (Mexico), Sani (Greece), Hong Kong, Marbella and Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), as well as the Rafa Nadal tennis program founded in Egypt.
