In today’s article, I’ll introduce you to the idea of incorporating skipping breakfast into your lifestyle and whether this approach is actually better for your health.
As a gym chain owner and fitness trainer, I have preached the message for many years that one must “eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.” Hands up, I understand this is wrong. I learned that there are many benefits to eating without breakfast. In fact, skipping breakfast is beneficial for both your health and your weight.
Whether we start the day with bacon, sausages, eggs, fried potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast or porridge with berries, skipping breakfast altogether can prove incredibly beneficial.
We have been conditioned to eat breakfast whether we are hungry or not. All too often we load up on a heavy breakfast of sausages, bacon, eggs, baked beans, tomatoes, brown bread, toast and butter. Even a continental breakfast is full of sugar with sugary donuts and pastries.
Instead of refueling at the start of the day, with or without healthy choices, give your body the freedom to burn stored fat for energy and follow a no-breakfast diet.
Let me explain.
The body rested all night. It didn’t use up any energy, so why would a person get up after the inactivity of sleep and put a big breakfast into his stomach?
After all, a heavy breakfast leads to most people depriving themselves of the precious energy that a restful night’s sleep has accumulated. You feel burdened, full and lethargic before the day has even begun.
People have been told, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you the strength, energy and vitality to complete the work of a hard morning, be it physical or mental.” This is absolutely wrong! It is not a real scientific fact.
It takes hours for your breakfast to be processed by the digestive system before you can gain energy or vitality from a large breakfast. Digestion is an extremely complicated process. Every food in breakfast must be broken down into fine nutrient fragments to nourish the body’s cells.
Skipping breakfast gives your body extra time to chew, digest, assimilate, and eliminate foods already in your system, rather than stressing your body soon after you wake up.
It’s far better to take advantage of your natural overnight fast by skipping breakfast, but drinking water and black coffee makes this easier. I refer you to a recent blog article where I introduced you to intermittent fasting: “How to Do an Intermittent Fasting Diet”.
You fast while you sleep. Fasting puts the body in a state where it can focus its attention on literally flushing all the crap out of your body. Giving our body a longer period of fasting gives your overworked and overworked internal organs ample rest and time for rehabilitation, allowing them to heal themselves 100% and flush out the toxic toxins and retained waste that they were unable to break down and remove in the state of ingestion.
“Fasting has been used to heal the sick for more than ten thousand years.
For almost three years I relied on the power of medicine to cure my long-term illness, but nothing seemed to change, in fact it got worse. I was desperate and after a conversation at the gym where a friend mentioned that he was doing 16/8 intermittent fasting, he felt like he had had huge weight loss results, had more energy and actually felt 20 years younger. After spending a lot of time getting nowhere and feeling uncomfortable, I decided I had nothing to lose and tried it myself.
All it really means is skipping breakfast and adopting a no-breakfast regime. If you sleep for 8 hours and don’t eat for the last 4 hours of your night and 4 hours the next morning, that means you are fasting for 16 hours. The remaining 8 hours a day you feed. For example, you start fasting at 7 p.m., go to bed at 11 p.m., sleep for 8 hours until 7 a.m., and then eat at 11 a.m.
Once you get over the small mental hurdles in the first few days of the diet, your body and mind simply get used to not eating until around midday. The first few days without breakfast will be difficult for you. Not because you need this meal, but because you are used to eating it. Often you have it even though you think I’m not hungry. However, there is a chance that you may experience a little hunger, lack of energy, and other symptoms. Over time it gets easier and easier.
Real hunger generally originates in the body and brain, not the stomach. When you get hungry, ask yourself:
Am I thirsty?
If you think yes, drink water and you should be fine in a few minutes.
The improvement for me was so immediate and so clear that I now advise everyone to try intermittent fasting and avoid skipping breakfast.
Don’t worry about having no “energy” because you didn’t eat in the morning. Any initial feelings of tiredness you may feel at the beginning will disappear after a few days and will be just a small hurdle to overcome. Many of us are often not hungry when we wake up, but we are used to eating breakfast because we “should.”
A little starvation can actually help the average sick person more than the best medicines and the best doctors. I don’t mean a restricted diet, but rather completely abstaining from food.
